This is a bit of a rant. I despise when well-meaning people are tricked by slick advertising into spending their hard-earned funds.

So I unload on the gimmicky “superfoods” a bit and give you my opinion of what SuperFoods really are and when/how we should eat them.

    My super foods are sardines and eggs. Liver is a super food, but I just can’t bring myself to eat it, I blame it on childhood trauma. But crap foods trump super foods, so don’t think you can make up for the crap you are eating with a "super" food.

    Agreed on all counts. The only superfood related product you’ll ever need is a superfood cookbook written by people who know their sh*t.

    And even then… Ones you’ve been eating meals consisting of nothing but superfoods for a week it doesn’t really matter anymore what you throw together. It will all be delicious and when you are eating what you need at that exact moment in time, it’s even more delicious. Your body knows best, follow your gut and sense of smell when shopping.

    Dr. Berry why do all of the free range eggs at my nice gro store have blood specks? When I was growing up my grandparents eggs didn’t on their farm. Chicken are guinea eggs. I know they are ok to eat because they are fresh and I cook them I just don’t like it and they are three times the price of reg eggs.

    My wife and I used to drink a green powder called Barley Green. Mix a teaspoon of it with a glass of water, hold your breath and chug it down. I felt I’d just finished cutting the grass. But, I did think it was a healthy way to put some ‘green’ nutrients into my body when my normal diet wasn’t doing it. Do you have any experience with ‘green’ products like this, Dr. Ken?

    Is it my taste buds because eggs have very little taste even bland w/out loading them w tons of sauted Veggies.. The pasture raised do have a slight better taste but not much. What am I doing wrong. Seems like I’ve tried almost everything to luv eggs but just isn’t happening.

    I’m a patron and I agree with some of what you say but keep in mind there are many nutrients not found in food but in herbs etc that make all the difference when taken in conjunction with a good keto diet. I would rather you not paint with such a large brush.

    "Everyday I think people should eat nothing but superfoods." That’s what you said but what about the keto diet? You have to have meat as well? And fats. Are meat and fats superfoods? I think not. Not to be overly critical here Dr. Berry, but I think you really need to think about what you’re going to say before you say it.

    I agree eating these vegetables "superfoods" is going to the most beneficial of options. I like superfood supplements like Amazing Grass Superfood. I believe using these are best if your diet isn’t involving enough vegetables. Again, recognizing it’s a supplement and not going to be as beneficial as eating the real thing. Similar to a multivitamin. Do beware of these new companies advertising these supplements as something new and selling for $60 or more.

    thanks. i have camu camu powder for vit c but i don’t know if the vit c is still there after drying and powdering, i e-mailed the company weeks ago and never got a response. :-/

    There’s no such thing as superfoods. It’s a sales hype. It’s a trendy term to use. Eat local, eat healthful, eat Keto. All the other crap on the supermarket shelves is just that. CRAP!

    My retina doctor told me my best hope of preserving my sight was to lose the body fat and eat lots of basic nutrient rich foods, lots of dark green and red veggies and wholesome fats, not junk fats, no inflammatory foods.

    Ashwagandha, spiralina, maca and brewer’s yeast. Mix that together in a glass of water an knock it down. Tastes awful but it works

    Yes if a doctor really cares for his patients and people, he will not be selling these supplements that have all kinds of bad ingredients in them. I have bought these items and in the end they never work. True good food works. Stay away from the processed stuff.
