The Ketogenic or Keto diet has gotten A LOT of media coverage in the last few years. I decided to follow up my original Keto video with one where I actually try out the diet for myself.

I was not surprised that the keto diet was difficult to stick to because of the restrictive nature of it. However, the weight loss and other benefits were definitely noticed and fairly early on into the diet.

    I’m on low carb diet since two weeks ago (basically the only sugar I eat comes from fresh fruit that isn’t banana)… and this guy keeps talking about oreo milkshakes… ๐Ÿ’ฉ

    Thank you Mike for this 30 day Keto challenge review. Last year I have done same and I loved the way how it made me feel I had a spike in energy and was able to go thru night shifts without any problems but I really disliked that I needed to give up my veggies. So It made me surprised when you mentioned you had low energy and was harder for you to go thru your workout routines.

    Is interesting that your experience is the opposite of mine, I have more energy dont fell hungry almost ever, even if I do IF for a whole day, the only thing in common is that I am getting leaner, the higher benefit however is that I haven’t been waking up with dry mouth and with dry eyes, also now my skin is better, I might have had symptoms that looked like prediabetic and i have high diabetes risk because my grandmother has it, also now I am less depressed, so it seems it regulates all hormones, not just insulin.

    If your exerciseing as much as you, you shouldn’t go on keto diet. I did it about 20 y ago and it didn’t help a lot. At that time I was working at an office an sat still a lot.
    It’s also the amount you eat. I don’t eat much sweets and I don’t drink sodas. Tap water here is good.
    As for me with genes that makes me easy overweight it works, but I’m not totally strict on it. There is always middle ways, and with friends and family I can’t hold on to "no potatoes and rice" and I love potatoes. Eat slowly, and take small bites.
    Just make your food from bottom, with fresh vegetables, meat, fish and white meat (like chicken and turkey). I never eat out, its not affordable for me, and in my contry people bring lunch with them to work and also school. Children don’t need pizza and french fries for lunch at school.
    And people proberbly don’t get enough exercise, especially those working in an office. As a nurse you should get enough because it’s hard work ๐Ÿ™‚

    The processed food from sauces to finished meals are full of suger and salt. Like my home cooked meals better.

    keto is not a fad… by the time ketosis kicks in vast majority of people are already quitting … low carb diets are the way to go. i’ve lost 55+ lbs … and actually gained in muscle mass

    I’m on month six of Keto as i’m trying to change my entire lifestyle due to consent struggles with my weight. My initial weight loss was fast and on track but now i’m at around 25 pounds lost (I drink periodically ๐Ÿ˜‚ and my goal is 80lbs so i’m in no rush ). It took me about four months to get my energy back completely, but now i’m able to work out same as before and keep up with my dogs again. I didn’t change anything with my diet I just felt 100% normal again, but i do cook my foods myself and provide myself a large verity. Also I have learned how to order off menus and I don’t find it difficult to go out with my friends anymore. I plan to continue as i’m happy with the results considering my exercise was lax the first four months, my main goal was to change my eating habits, then weight loss. I hope i’m not doing any harm to myself by sustaining this long term even though I’ve started to enjoy it, and once I better my cardio habits ill wean slightly off of the diet. (It all started with the three years it took me to quit smoking cigs where i gained 40lbs) Thanks for all your useful info, and sorry for the testimonial!

    6 pounds in 1 month thatโ€™s it? You did something wrong Iโ€™ve heard of a lot people losing 20+ pounds their first month. Plus you broke your keto so that would of been at least 2 more pounds lost if you didnโ€™t break it.

    Sounds like you are promoting keto. I quit watching. I have tried keto then i did some studies. If i had done the studies first i would never have tried keto.
    I ended up going vegan.
    GOING VEGAN AND ELIMINATING MILK WERE THE BEST CHOICES I EVER MADE.

    You could’ve had regular blood tests to back up your progress for yourself. If you were worried about breaking it, it would’ve shown in the test.

    When you were throwing away the flour and bread I was disgusted. Iโ€™ve been Keto so long the sight of bread makes me absolutely wanna yak. Keto is the best โ€œdietโ€ ever. Youโ€™re only leaving out all the garbage foods. The nice thing about Keto is the simplicity. Eat once a day. Why have food everywhere you go?

    You can bored eat pumpkin seeds and pork rinds lol. I’ve been on keto for two years since I was put on it by my surgeon. Though I do go off one weekend out of the month and do have treats sometimes moderation is key. I can have that piece of cheesecake, I cannot have the whole cake. I even found a recipe for actually good keto chewy chocolate chip cookies. Also you can totally have avocado and berries though keto is inconvenient. Love Thrive market though!
